These seven Spring, 2018, events offer the opportunity for people to come together in community and practice yoga, meditation, and more at yoga festivals and retreats in gorgeous settings. Whether you want to travel around the world, or around the block, take the time to immerse yourself in practice, eat good food, relax, and meet your tribe. 1. Wanderlust | Oahu, HI
March 1-4, 2018
Hawaii’s island of Oahu is known as ‘the gathering place.’ The nickname fits perfectly. Oahu’s beauty and wealth of activities attracts people from across the globe. Wanderlust Oahu offers an amazing opportunity to gather with like-minded, inspiring adventurers to “Find Your True North.”
This experience starts at sunrise with oceanside yoga, mind expansive cutting-edge talks, freshly-picked island cuisine, time to catch waves in Waimea Bay, and boogie under evening skies with the pulse of a starlit dance party.
Each participant can tailor their own adventure with multi-level yoga and meditation sessions, heart-pumping music, inspiring lectures and workshops, and boundary-pushing outdoor activities. But most of all, Wanderlust is a place where people can come together with shared values and beliefs and have fun in nature.
2. International Yoga Festival, Rishikesh
Mar 1-7, 2018
The International Yoga Festival (IYF) is held in the holy city of Rishikesh, India, on the banks of the sacred Ganges river surrounded by the forested foothills of the Himalayas. The festival’s home is Parmarth Niketan Ashram, the largest ashram in Rishikesh and one of India’s largest interfaith yoga institutions. Rishikesh is hailed as “Yoga Capitol of the World” and a magnet for spiritual seekers. The land is perfect for yoga and reflective hikes, and rafting on the Ganges here is a must. The Beatles got in touch with Eastern spirituality in Rishikesh, writing several songs during a 1968 stint at a local ashram.
The seven-day immersion and celebration features numerous yoga styles, spiritual leaders, renowned yoga teachers, thought leaders, and wellness specialists from the around the world. Attendees can customize each day. The program’s extensive schedule starts with Kundalini sadhana at 4 a.m. for the intensely committed. It ends at 9:30 pm with traditional cultural song and dance, as well as kirtan on the banks of Ganga.
3. Himalayan Yoga Yatra
March 21-April 1, 2018
Saraswati and Raghu Markus, Julie Devi Hale, and Shyama Chapin lead this 10-day Journey of the Heart in the Land of the Gods region following in the footsteps of Ram Dass. Formerly known as Harvard Professor Richard Alpert, Ram Dass spent time in India, searching for answers and finding them in his guru, Neem Karoli Baba. Raghu Markus was on much of that journey and he’s returning to share the legacy.
Now you can take the same Yatra (pilgrimage). Stay in a beautiful ashram in the the Himalayas and take day trips to sacred temples and locations around the magical Deva Bhumi Valley.
Meet in Delhi for two nights at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram before heading to the Madubahn Ashram in the Himalayas by private coach. That will be the base for eight nights. Enjoy daily yoga, chanting, kirtan, meditation, and workshops, as well as day trips to Hanumangar, Kainchi, Kakrighat and more.
Return to Delhi for an overnight rest and closing events before heading home, transformed by enriching memories and experiences.
4. BaliSpirit Festival
April 2–8, 2018
The Annual BaliSpirit Festival is a vibrant and uplifting global festival of yoga, dance, and music aimed at awakening and nourishing each individual's potential for positive change within.
This festival in a lush, tropical location is sacred celebration at its best. The 2018 event will be the 11 year anniversary of the festival, with six days of full programming including yoga, dance, meditation, breathwork workshops and seven nights of music. Everything will take place at one venue: Bhanuswari Resort, Ubud.
What makes BaliSpirit Festival unique is the diverse West meets East cultural fusion across the event programming and venue. Attendees experience Balinese culture and spirituality, and mesmerizing nature to create a perfect setting for attendees to evolve, connect to each other, and be creatively inspired.
5. Sat Nam Fest Joshua Tree
April 11-15, 2018
There is something special—even magical—about hundreds of people sharing practices from the same lineage. By chanting the mantras and practicing the kriyas together, individual efforts are amplified to create a beautiful and powerful healing group energy. Sat Nam Fest is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the joy, transformation, and rejuvenation of Kundalini Yoga, sacred chant, and creativity as you rediscover and return to your true self.
This year, Sat Nam will offer the 21 Stages of Meditation in partnership with The Kundalini Research Institute. Participants will join the community for morning sadhana, meals, and evening concerts; and spend days exploring the depths of meditation with two powerful guides, Krishna Kaur and Nirvair Singh.
Sat Nam Fest is a family-friendly event; they believe that children participating is intrinsic to the festival’s life force. The event welcomes both long-time Kundalini Yoga students as well as those who are just introduced to the practice. Join other practitioners and deeply connect with each other by sharing yoga practices in the desert energy of Joshua Tree.
6. Imagine Fest, Malibu

Imagine Fest is a community-centered day of yoga, live music, and art at Peter Strauss Ranch, between Malibu and Agoura Hills. Proceeds from this philanthropic endeavor benefit Unlikely Heroes, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating child victims of sex trafficking.
The inspiring bohemian environment features sacred music artists Satsang and Govindas and Radha as well as asana, meditation, Yoga Nidra, and sound healing. Top SoCal yoga instructors Sesa O'Connor, Drorit Rudin, Kate Duyn Cariati, Sri Hari Moss, and Julie Kundert, and meditation and Yoga Nidra teachers Tracee Stanley and John Vosler teach throughout the day. Youth programming for kids and families is curated by the Peace Guardians.
Imagine Fest’s new speaker series, led by Unlikely Heroes Founder Erica Greve and other experts, will share wisdom on topics related to sex trafficking, yoga and meditation in the rehabilitation process, and how we can be conscious citizens affecting positive change.
The day includes local and mindful vendors, food trucks, farm-to-table vegan picnic lunch by local Chef Caspar Poyck, Acro Yoga, and more community-oriented activities.
7. Costa Rica Retreat w/Chandra and Jeff Gero
May 19-26, 2018
Chandra and Jeff Gero lead this seven-day Yoga and Meditation retreat, nestled in the foothills of Nosara, Costa Rica. The setting is Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort, next door to eight acres of lush tropical gardens, and a short walk to the beautiful Guiones Beah, a world-class tropical surfing beach. On site, enjoy high-end Balinese-inspired accommodations, superb dining, a world-class fitness center, refreshing salt water pool, soothing spa, juice bar, and boutique. It is an ideal location for finding peace, relaxation and rejuvenation as well as for deepening your yoga and meditation practices.
Chandra Gero holds a bachelors degree in dance and is a certified therapeutic yoga teacher who has been teaching for nearly two decades. Jeff Gero PhD is a life coach and meditation teacher who wrote his dissertation on meditation and has been meditating for over 40 years. The two are students of their beloved teacher Baba Hari Dass. Their retreat experience includes three meals a day, all yoga and mediation classes, plus a one-hour private Life Coaching session with Dr. Jeff.
